“Beyond Good & Evil” 20th Anniversary Remaster Release Date Set for June 25th, Sequel and Launch Trailer Teased

A 20th anniversary remaster of Michel Ancel's masterpiece Beyond Good & Evil was announced in November last year, scheduled for release in early 2024, but since then (like the sequel) no further news has been released. As attention has been focused on the remaster, which has not been updated even in Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft has finally announced the release date for Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition today. It has been revealed that the new game is scheduled for release on June 25, 2024 (just in time for the 20th anniversary) for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

In addition, a launch trailer was released showcasing Jade and Paige's epic adventure, beautifully reborn visuals, and highlights of improvements, and the release of a retail version to be sold by Limited Run Games was also announced. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on July 12.

Additionally, new elements in this game include additional missions that delve deeper into the connection between the original and the numbered sequel, “Beyond Good and Evil 2,” about which there have been no updates for a long time, and that offer cosmetic rewards themed around the pirates of the sequel. Ubisoft has once again stated that development of the sequel will continue.

As an aside, this is the first report of continued development in 1 year and 5 months since January 2023, and details about the sequel's progress are currently unknown. However, since its announcement in late May 2008, the game has gone through many twists and turns, and development has already lasted for over 16 years, far surpassing the historical record of “Duke Nukem Forever,” which took 14 years and 2 months from announcement to release. Attention is focused on the actions and current situation of the team now that Michel Ancel has been lost.

The upcoming “Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition” features new elements such as an anniversary gallery, a newly recorded soundtrack, improved performance with up to 4k/60fps operation, numerous QoL improvements including auto-save, cutscene skipping, cross-save support, and an additional speedrun mode.
