Battlefield 7 release – When does the shooter appear?

Electronic Arts is planning on one Publication in the 2025/26 financial year. The new “Battlefield” can therefore be expected between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026. Industry insider Tom Henderson says the goal is a market launch in October or November 2025.

However, an internal shift cannot be ruled out. The publisher is determined to learn from the “Battlefield 2042” debacle. As you probably know, the last spin-off was released in a disastrous state, which… lowest Metacritic score in series history led. Numerous updates were necessary until the desired gaming experience was offered.

The most realistic destruction effects ever

Nothing official is known about the gameplay of “Battlefield 7”. However, a job advertisement provided an interesting clue. This is what the development team is aiming for the most realistic destruction effects in the industry away.

Henderson also reported on 64-player matches and a four-class system, which would take the developers back to the roots. The plot is said to be set between 2025 and 2030, which would focus on modern war technology.

Battlefield is of great importance to EA

CEO Andrew Wilson emphasized last May that Battlefield remains an important part of EA's future. In addition, the shooter series “in a completely new way” to return.

Later Wilson spoke of one connected ecosystem, which repositions the franchise. The publisher is probably basing “Battlefield 7” on the “Call of Duty” series, in which different titles are linked together. Furthermore, EA is now relying on Activision's multi-studio strategy, which is why several studios are working on the series. Even the racing game developer Criterion Games is largely occupied with “Battlefield”.

“Mr. Battlefield” Lars Gustavsson, however, is no longer there. The veteran developer decided to leave EA DICE in September 2022 after more than two decades. Swedish company documents later referred to a newly founded studio.

With a single player campaign or not?

In order to be able to offer a convincing single player campaign again after “Battlefield 2042”, EA founded a company specifically for this Ridgeline Games. Unfortunately, the publisher closed this studio last February as part of a Wave of layoffs. Work on the single player mode continues. This is where Criterion Games comes into play.

Moreover founded EA Motive recently launched a “Battlefield” team. And DICE also confirmed this a year ago participation on a narrative campaign. Apparently you don't have to worry about the single-player experience of “Battlefield 7” and other games.

Battle Royale spin-off planned?

According to Tom Henderson, Electronic Arts is planning one free-to-play battle royale spin-off. Ripple Effect (former name: DICE LA) is apparently responsible for the development.

Such a mode already existed with “Firestorm”, but without a free-2-play option. With the independent BR game, those responsible would orientate themselves on “Warzone”, which turned out to be a great success.

EA apparently wants to increase the reach of “Battlefield” and ultimately boost sales. For example, “Battlefield 7” and the F2P title could share an in-game shop with cosmetic content.

In addition to the BR variant, the so-called Gauntlet mode be included. Here, multiple teams compete against each other in objective-based modes. Whoever collects the fewest points is eliminated after the round.

One thing is certain: After the last season started in “Battlefield 2042”, the Focus on the future. Electronic Arts took a close look at how many resources the next part would consume. As a result, the publisher decided to shift full focus to the future. General Manager Byron Beede is already looking forward to the day when you will find out the first details about “Battlefield 7” – or whatever the title is called in the final version.
