Japan as big as Egypt

Ubisoft has finally revealed Assassin's Creed Shadows, the new opus of the studio's most famous license which this time will transport us to the heart of feudal Japan. The game has already been revealed with a first trailer which gave us a glimpse of its two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. The first is a shinobi, the second a samurai, two different styles which will offer players different approaches.

Beyond this trailer, Ubisoft also gave several interviews to talk in more detail about their new game. from IGNthe studio notably revealed some information concerning the map of this opus which should be at least as vast as that of Assassin's Creed Origins according to creative director Jonathan Dumont.

A scale closer to reality

The Shadows map should therefore be found between those of the first opuses and those of the latest games which mark the Action-RPG turn taken by the license. That being said, the studio's ambition is quite different for this opus. If the map must be narrower than that of Assassin's Creed Odyssey Or Assassin's Creed Valhalla which each offered a total transcription on a reduced scale of Greece and England, Ac Shadows should nevertheless focus on a denser playing field with a more realistic scale ratio, as explained by Jonathan Dumont.

We wanted a scale ratio much closer to reality. Since the castles take up a lot of space and we really wanted the mountains to look like mountains, (we made) the environments feel larger in the game.

In short, AC Shadows should offer players a more realistic and organic experience on a human scale with a reduced map, but more teeming with detail and life. A rather interesting bias which contrasts with the latest opuses, to be discovered when the game is released on November 15 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
