Assassin’s Creed Shadows: “Gold” Edition Outselling Standard Edition after Strong Sales

Assassin's Creed Shadows is the latest installment in the Ubisoft series. Its release is scheduled for November 15, 2024. This game transports players to feudal Japan, a setting highly anticipated by fans. It features the intersecting stories of two protagonists: Naoe, a shinobi assassin from the province of Iga, and Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by a historical character who served under the orders of Oda Nobunaga. Despite a particularly attractive description, many are not happy with the prices… Well, that's what we thought.

A pre-sale that works in the shadows

Whether it was the controversies or the game itself, it was unclear whether pre-sales would work as well. Of course, many people, especially on social networks, claimed that this would be a success “because it's Assassin's Creed”, they said. However, despite all these problems with the community, pre-orders are already doing very well and even if we don't have exact figures, we can at least know a little about the sales ranking on certain platforms. It was in fact on X (formerly Twitter) that a screenshot was shared by a user, known for sharing video game news.

We can see from this screenshot that the “Gold” edition of Assassin's Creed Shadows had more sales than the standard edition. A real surprise for some who criticize all those who purchased this version of the game. In addition to the differences between the versions consisting of a Season Pass and access to the game 3 days before its release (unlike the standard edition), other players criticize buyers who decided to spend their money before even seeing any gameplay of the game. It seems that no matter what happens, Ubisoft's detractors will be there to criticize the company and the players who support it.

A short week and already first?

It's only been a short week since pre-orders have been available, yet we quickly see that fans are ready to spend large sums of money to ensure they get their hands on Ubisoft's next game.

Not only is the Gold edition at €109.99 more pre-ordered than the standard edition, but on the German PlayStation Store, we can see that the Ultimate edition (the €129.99 version) is even more popular than the Gold edition! Whatever the scathing criticism from some players, others will be there to support Ubisoft.
