After the release of Assassin's Creed Mirage last year, it's the turn of the next titles in the AC franchise to be highlighted. If Red seems to be the closest to being released, it's a completely different project that is being talked about today, according to reliable sources.

After the release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft has decided to take a short break from its main series in order to take more time to develop its future projects. So, last year, we were treated to Assassin's Creed Mirage, a spin-off based on the Valhalla engine which was only a DLC at the start and which ultimately became a full-fledged game. With its more linear approach and focused on infiltration, this proposal was able to convince players. Now, it is time for Ubisoft's flagship franchise to look to the future and it is precisely one of its future games that is talking about it today.

After Red, Hexe’s turn?

At present, Assassin's Creed Codename Red is the most anticipated project among AC fans for several reasons. First of all, it takes place in feudal Japan, a period that players have been asking for for years and which will finally come to fruition. However, it should be noted that this era has been used a lot in many games in recent years such as Like a Dragon: Ishin!, Rise of the Ronin and obviously Ghost of Tsushima which is the best example and which was greatly inspired by 'AC. So, Assassin's Creed Codename Red must prove it can do better than the one it inspired. Then, if the project is awaited, it is also because it is probably the next game in the franchise.

However, we must not forget that another game was announced a few years ago: Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe. While the project was still mysterious until now, we are now learning some information thanks to a well-informed source.

A second return to basics for AC?

As a reminder, at present, we only know that'Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is a title which takes place in the middle of a witch hunt in the 16th century at the end of the Holy Roman Empire. But today, the site InsiderGaming always well informed teaches us a little more. Thus, Hexe would be planned for 2026 and should be launched on the Assassin's Creed Infinity platform, teased for years. We would play a young woman named Elsa who would possess supernatural powers, which is not surprising in this “witch hunt” setting.. For example, the player can take control of a cat to distract the attention of guards. And then, the fear system introduced in the DLC dedicated to Jack the Ripper in Assassin's Creed Syndicate would make a comeback, even if we don't yet know the details.

However, where Insider Gaming's revelations are surprising is that the media explains to us that this episode would be more linear than the previous ones. However, the open world so dear to the series would not have disappeared and would still exist through certain elements. In reality, we would be facing a formula closer to the first Assassin's Creed, rather than the formula which focuses everything on the open world like the Origins-Odyssey-Valhalla trilogy. Surprising news, but which could bear fruit when we saw the feedback about Mirage. In the meantime, we remind you that all this information should be taken with a grain of salt in the absence of confirmation from Ubisoft.
