Apple’s launch in depth – this brings the next iOS and this is missing

This applies to Siri AI in Sweden and the EU – coming or not coming

When Apple presented Siri AI, we learned that the function will only come in English and that it will not come to EU countries at all.

Just like when Apple Intelligence was first launched, the new version of Apple’s AI based on Google’s models is not coming to the EU. What Apple says about this is that a beta version of Apple Intelligence will be released, but that it is only available in English and not in the EU.

However, Apple promises to quickly release Apple Intelligence in its new form in more languages, and since the current model has support for Swedish since November 2025, we should be reasonably prioritized.

As for Siri AI, Apple was clear that it is not coming to the EU and that it is not coming to China at this time. The same was true when Apple first released the old version of Apple Intelligence and then it took about six months before EU citizens got access to the services.

In a separate statement, Apple now says that it tried to cooperate with the EU regarding the launch of Siri AI here, but that the EU refused to cooperate in a constructive way and did not agree to any of Apple’s proposals. Apple has no timetable for when or if Siri AI can be released in the EU and the reason, according to the company, is that the EU’s requirement that other AI systems have “almost unlimited access to the user’s devices” poses too great a risk for users.

iPhone 17 and earlier are left out – Only three iPhone models can handle Apple’s new advanced AI

When Apple presented its new Siri AI and updated Apple Intelligence, they also told us that the most advanced functions would not be available in all phones.

The more advanced functions include the ability to adapt the voice assistant’s voice so that it speaks more smoothly and also gives you the opportunity to influence the pace of the conversation and the expression. This also includes the improved dictation and speech-to-text features, with improved features to remove humming and other mistakes. Now Apple has confirmed that even the autumn iPhone 17, launched just a few months ago, does not meet the requirements for the new services. Instead, only the Iphone 17 Air, Iphone 17 Pro and Iphone 17 Pro Max are required. The reason for this is that the new functions require 12 GB of working memory and the iPhone 17 does not have that because it is equipped with only 8 GB.

Apple Intelligence runs on Google’s servers

When Apple first launched Apple Intelligence two years ago, privacy was a basic requirement. In order not to endanger users’ personal data, Apple created Private Cloud Compute where data is managed without the risk of dissemination and on Apple’s own servers. Apple Intelligence is now being expanded and can also be run on Google Cloud, but according to Apple still without compromising personal data.

Regardless of whether Apple Intelligence, which was previously run on Apple hardware in Apple’s own data centers or on Google’s servers in Google Cloud, the requirements must be the same, that neither Apple nor outsiders must have access to information that is processed and that this must be able to be verified by outside experts.

I guess Apple already had child accounts so what’s new

Yes, since several years children can have an Apple account where parents can approve app purchases, manage screen time and so on. Now parents can also approve which contacts the children can communicate with, which web pages they can visit and the whole management of screen time has been improved. When a child account is created, the parent gets a wizard to help set everything up. There should be proposals for app restrictions and time limits in games, entertainment and social media, based on current research.

Is Siri AI a Chat GPT competitor?

Siri in its new form, which was launched during Apple’s WWDC conference, is both a separate app and integrated into many of the apps, so it is not a direct Chat GPT competitor.

When Apple presented Siri AI, which incidentally will not come to the EU at all in the first stage, it was described as an updated and smarter assistant. Siri is integrated in, for example, the camera app, in reminders, the photo gallery app, email, notes and in the keyboard, so in most of the system. Siri should have its starting point in your personal data and if you give the assistant access, it can benefit from the knowledge of your messages, contacts, calendar and so on for its answers, while at the same time it can take part of knowledge it finds on the web.

The separate Siri app works as history so you can start a question or discussion with Siri on your iPhone and then continue on your iPad or your Mac computer, for example. The history must be tested and synced between devices via your iCloud account.

Shared photo albums where Android and Windows users can also join

Apple has long had a function so that Apple users in the iPhone, Mac or iPad can create joint albums to share photos in, within the family, between friends, or in temporary groups.

With IOS 27, which will be released this fall, the ability to share images in full resolution, but also for users of non-Apple devices, will be able to share images. This means that anyone sitting on Windows or with an Android phone will also be able to see and share images in groups.

The apps in the Apple Watch are changing – but only for a few

Apple did not have a separate presentation of Watch OS 27 during its launch, but the system still receives some news.

Perhaps the most obvious change in Watch OS 27 is a new app list. Instead of a static list of icons, Siri should suggest the five most likely apps at the moment, which are then directly accessible on the home screen. They coexist there together with a shortcut to reach the other apps.

Apple is also cleaning up its own app selection in the Apple Watch. The previous three separate Find apps for devices, people and things are now combined into one app, just like in the iPhone, where the map becomes the starting point for searching and finding.

Surprisingly, however, Watch OS 27 is only supported by a few of the latest Apple Watch models. For example, Apple Watch Ultra does not work with the new Watch OS 27 and instead requires Watch Ultra 2 or 3, Watch SE 3 or Apple Watch 9, 10 or 11.

Apple starts limiting and charging for AI

Apple Intelligence in its latest version will be a paid service. When Apple enlists the help of Google and their Gemini models for more advanced AI, some parts of Apple Intelligence also become a paid service.

When the new version of Apple Intelligence rolls out this fall as part of IOS 27, usage is limited and an iCloud Plus subscription is required for extended access to the functions. This applies to the functions that require more computing power on servers and do not run locally on your phone. Apple does not state exactly which services apply, but gives the example of image generation. There, usage will have daily restrictions and even Apple’s extended AI image interpretation with surveillance cameras in Apple Home will be limited in this way unless you pay extra.

Airpods get custom sound and equalizer but only these three models

When Apple releases IOS 27 this autumn, it also means that AirPods will get new functions. Then the equalizer is introduced so that users can adapt the sound to personal preferences.

In the Airpods settings, IOS 27 comes with an equalizer. This means that you as a user can adjust the different frequencies with bass, midrange and treble separately. Apple also states that users of Airpods Pro 3 with heart rate measurement should have their heart rate data synced with iPhone and the equalizer support only applies to Airpods 4, Airpods Pro 3 and Airpods Max 2.
