This was followed by a Review bombingone Removal of “Helldivers 2” from Steam in countries where regular PSN connection is not possible, and finally a backtrack from Sony. But the matter is far from over.

Sony is preparing for the next PC launch. “Ghost of Tsushima” appears as a Director's Cut on Steam. However, it seems that all those countries in which “Helldivers 2” was removed from sale due to the temporarily planned PSN requirement are being left out.

According to the history of SteamDB entries, players in around 180 countries can no longer obtain “Ghost of Tsushima” regularly.

No official reason was given for the cancellation. And it is unclear who initiated the measures. But it stands to reason that “Ghost of Tsushima’s” co-op mode is the trigger. While the Single player elements without PSN connection To be able to play, an account connection is required for co-op mode, which is not possible in many countries.

In the meantime, reports are also making the rounds about refunds for players in affected countries:

Strangely enough, Japan was also briefly added to the list of unsupported countries, but is no longer represented there. There still seems to be movement here.

Since Sony is starting with “Ghost of Tsushima” on a optional PC overlay the Japanese company should urgently find a solution and give players worldwide the opportunity to register on the PlayStation Network. Otherwise, only single-player versions of certain games will be offered in affected regions.

Such a restriction will not be necessary for the next game. Apparently “God of War Ragnarök” lands on the PC:

The “Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut” will be released on May 16, 2024 for the PC (via Steam and Epic Store). There are currently no reviews possible on Steam, so comparable review bombing as in the case of “Helldivers 2” could not take place. However, Sony should provide explanations and solutions before the launch.
