Amazon fires up the remake machine.
A comment from Gregor Elsholz
I’m not entirely sure how many times I’ve played through the original Tomb Raider story. In any case, often enough that déjà vu is now waiting for me on every corner of Vilcabamba, Natla’s mines and in the grave of Tihocan.
No wonder, after all, the game was released around three decades ago and has been re-released several times since then – a fact that won’t stop Amazon from releasing it in 2027 Tomb Raider: The Legacy of Atlantis to make the next attempt. The latest trailer for Sony’s State of Play now reveals the release date and makes you want more.
Amazon is reissuing Tomb Raider
I played Tomb Raider on the PS1 back then and then caught up on the PC. In the years that followed, I played the existing remake Tomb Raider Anniversary several times and just played the excellent remaster collection in 2024.
As originally announced at the Game Awards, the adventure classic is now getting with a little delay on February 12, 2027 already its second remake – stylish with sophisticated Unreal Engine 5 graphics.
The new trailer for Sony’s State of Play is visually impressive. Although the content of the voiceover is a rather clumsy collection of adventure clichés – which may also be due to Lara Croft’s thin character – the raptors now have paleontologically accurate feathers.
New Tomb Raider game coming in 2027
I could now stand up and say that a few feathered raptors and souped-up graphics aren’t enough for me to buy and play a game for the umpteenth time. But let’s be honest: if it says Tomb Raider, I’ll play it.
I can at least console myself with the fact that a brand new adventure in the series is also scheduled to appear in 2027. Tomb Raider: Catalyst. I guess I have to until then Make do with the warmed up original – after 30 years I’m used to it.
