Albion Online – Albion Online claims a new attendance record, with 350,000 active players

Albion Online was able to attract 150,000 players to its new European server, recording a record of more than 350,000 active players every day around the world. A more than respectable figure for an independent MMORPG with competitive gameplay.

We remember that at the end of last April, the Berlin studio Sandbox Interactive opened a new server for Albion Onlinethis time dedicated to European players – after opening an Asian server in April 2023, both of which are added to the historic MMORPG server now dedicated to North American players.

Obviously the “new start” marked by the opening of the European server has attracted players, veterans and newcomers alike: according to Sandbox Interactive, Albion Online records a new attendance record, established at more than 350,000 active players who connect daily (in the graphic below, the developer specifies that the term “users” refers to active accounts). For comparison, the previous record was 300,000 active players when the Asian server opened. According to the developer, Albion Europe alone “has more than 150,000 players per day” and a new record was also set on Steam, with “more than 27,000 players connected simultaneously on all servers” via the platform. Valve.

Obviously, the studio's satisfaction is not innocent (a populated, active and dynamic MMO is likely to attract new players), but the figure is nevertheless notable. A year ago, Albion Online claimed 300,000 players on its Western server and its Asian server. Subject to player population movements (European players having left the historic Western server to migrate to the new European server), we can estimate that the MMO would have lost around a hundred thousand players during the year, then regained 150,000 recently with the opening of the European server – for a total of 350,000 today. Without prejudice, the Berlin developer can clearly count on a solid base of at least 200,000 active players, clearly with lasting loyalty. And this is far from trivial for an independent MMORPG which also focuses on competitive gameplay – and PvP fans are clearly having a blast: the studio provides some statistics following the launch of the European server and reports over 4.8 million PvP kills. Damn!

Albion Online European Server Statistics

The launch of a new server, which feels like a new beginning, obviously attracts new players who help to boost the MMORPG's attendance statistics. Among the lot, there are undoubtedly a number of curious players, who perhaps will not settle down permanently in the Albion Online community. However, the MMORPG seems to have found its audience (and Sandbox Interactive, its formula), and this is clearly enough to sustain the operation of Albion Online for seven years now (and even eleven counting the test periods).
