■ Repost: Overview of efforts to restart “Wayfinder”
- Removal of online features: All online elements, including login and account authentication, will be abolished. However, peer-to-peer Co-op, which allows up to three people to play cooperatively, will be available. This Co-op does not involve a server, so progress will not be carried over.
- No more microtransactions and more paid content: All traditional microtransactions for F2P have been abolished and the game will be released as a paid title with no in-game purchase elements. The price during the early access period is $24.99, and the price will be revised to increase at the time of official release. Existing Founders content purchasers will continue to have access to the limited items included in each pack.
- Gameplay Changes: Changes have been made to all major systems of the game, improving performance and gameplay. All weapons will be random drops with a wide variety of slots, and changes will be applied to armor, including adding status. In addition, a large number of appearance items and housing items will be available to collect. Four new difficulty levels, a new Wayfinder “Grendel”, and new zones will also be added.
- Re-release: A soft launch for players who own the existing edition on Steam will begin on May 31, 2024. A paid Steam Early Access version will go on sale on June 11. The PS5 version will undergo similar changes later this year, with support for the PS4 version ending and a free upgrade to the PS5 being offered. Early access for Steam is scheduled to end in late 2024. An Xbox Series X|S version is also scheduled to be released during the early access period, with further information to be announced at a later date.
