Almost 25 years after its release, Age of Empires II continues to be supported through its Definitive Edition. Last year, the cult title was finally ported to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and welcomed two expansions: Return of Rome and The Mountain Royals. Today, World's Edge took advantage of the “New Year, New Age” event to unveil a brand new expansion.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition gets a new expansion called Victors and Vanquished
As with previous DLCs, players will be able to count on new scenarios based on historical facts. In particular, they can expect new hours of play thanks to 19 new scenarios which will lead them to embody Ragnar Lodbrok, Oda Nobunaga, Charlemagne and many others. Below you will find descriptions of three scenarios.

Ragnar Lodbrok
Awaken the Viking in you! Launch your troops to attack the seas on a huge map of Northern Europe. All great empires start small, and yours will be no exception. Start with raids to obtain funds and recruit warriors. Next, capture counties in Norway, Denmark and Sweden to increase your power. As you become king, more and more opportunities will present themselves to you. Use your achievements to unlock technologies, recruit powerful heroes, raid wherever you want, and even worship the gods for benefits.
Otto I the Great
You find yourself surrounded by formidable enemies: ruthless Vikings, mounted Magyars and valiant Franks. However, even as king, your authority is not absolute. You have three vassals, who can be your greatest allies in your quest to become Holy Roman Emperor, or on the contrary become a source of conflict and rebellion. Skillfully balance your power with theirs and use strategic gifts to keep their loyalties in check.

Oda Nobunaga
Choose from the six unique factions available. Will you lead the fearsome Takeda and crush your enemies with Japan's finest cavalry? Or would you rather take the reins of the Ōtomo and take advantage of new weapons brought by outsiders to gain a decisive advantage? If subterfuge and assassination appeal to you, opt for the Mōri clan and use your criminal network to recruit unsavory characters.
This extension has a community feel, since 14 scenarios are inspired by content generated by the community.

Victors and Vanquished, the next expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, will be available starting March 14 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Remember that the base game is included in Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
