ADIDAS – The German sports equipment manufacturer Adidas announced this Thursday, November 24 to launch an internal investigation after “allegations” of inappropriate behavior targeting Kanye West, the bubbling rapper with whom he recently broke cooperation around Yeezy sneakers.
These accusations, reported by the American magazine RollingStonerelate to the fact that Kanye West allegedly presented pornographic videos and pictures – including an intimate photo of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian – to Adidas employees and behaved inappropriately towards them.
Adidas, which is itself accused of turning a blind eye to these actions in the newspaper’s investigation, said in a statement “immediately launch an independent investigation” on the subject.
According RollingStoneformer high-ranking executives of the three-stripe brand sent a letter to the leaders of the group titled “The truth about Yeezy”.
They accuse the company of failing to ” responsibility “ and for not having sufficiently protected its employees against “with the perverse behavior of a predator” by Kanye West” against women”.
Adidas executives are accused of disabling their “moral compass”
They believe they have lived “years of verbal abuse, vulgar tirades and intimidation maneuvers”.
In this letter, members of the Adidas management board and other executives are accused of having deactivated their “moral compass” in ‘ignoring both Kanye’s inflammatory public behavior and complaints from the Yeezy team’ regarding his problematic conduct.
However, the group believes that“it is currently unclear whether the accusations made in (the) anonymous letter are true”.
But he assures at the same time “all (his) support” to Adidas employees “time to settle the details of the termination” of the contract with the rapper.
The sportswear brand cut ties with Kanye West in October over his anti-Semitic remarks, ending a lucrative partnership that began in 2014.
The shortfall linked to the termination of this partnership is alone estimated at 500 million euros by the end of 2022, Adidas said in early November.
