a new update to install urgently

Sony has just deployed a new update for the PlayStation 5. A patch which is a little different from the routine and which we advise you to install fairly quickly.

PlayStation has been on everyone’s lips lately and not necessarily for the right reasons. Permanent banning of hundreds of accounts without reason causing the victims to lose all the games purchased, deletion of more than 1,300 pieces of content purchased for certain Anglo-Saxon players, PS Plus games falling short of expectations… the community is starting to have a hard time. However, the publisher is continuing its efforts to improve everyone’s comfort on PS5 with the deployment of a new update.

A new update for the PS5

The PlayStation 5 goes to version 23.02-08.40.00. A new update is now available for download. As usual, it will launch automatically when the console is launched. The manipulation should only take a few minutes at most, since this update weighs only 1.185 GB. As you can imagine given this light weight, this is a routine patch. Typically, such updates simply serve to improve the performance of the PS5. Sometimes this is accompanied by a few other tweaks or bug fixes, which is not the case this time. Here are the very brief patch notes for this update. As usual, it’s just a few lines:

  • Some security-related fixes to the system software.
  • Improved system software performance and stability.
  • Improved messages and certain screens.

This new PS5 update therefore seems to correct a security flaw. We cannot recommend enough that you install it urgently, you never know. Other than that, it’s routine while waiting for a bigger patch. For new features, however, you will have to wait until the next major update of the PS5. We don’t yet know what it will have in store and what Sony plans to add in the future. Among the most requested features: the return of dynamic themes that old PS4 players clearly miss, but will Sony ever give in to their request? Only the future will tell us. As usual, beta testers will be able to take advantage of future new features in advance, but you will have to wait until next year to discover them.
