The latest movie in the anime series “Detective Conan” recently celebrated its big debut in Japan and set an almost unbelievable record.

On April 12, 2024, after a long wait, the starting signal for what is now the 27th “Detective Conan” film was given in Japanese cinemas. The latest screen adventure called “Hyakuman Doru no Michishirube” (English title “The Million-dollar Pentagram”) not only seems to continue the great success story of the film series, but also takes it a step further.
How successful is the new Detective Conan film?
Like from one latest report from Anime News Network According to reports, “Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram” sold more than 7.32 million tickets in just 22 days after its official theatrical release in Japan. This means sales of around 10.5 billion yen, which corresponds to an amount of almost 64.4 million euros. This is a remarkable achievement in itself, but at the same time the new detective adventure was able to set a new record.
It's not just the second film in the franchise to break the ten billion yen mark. This feat was achieved two days faster than its predecessor “Detective Conan: The Black Submarine” was the case. At the time, it took 24 days to reach the milestone.
But that's not all the success news: Thanks to this latest result, “Detective Conan” is the first Japanese anime film series of which two films were able to break the 10 billion mark in direct succession. In addition, “Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram” had the best film opening of the year in Japan so far. The film thus replaced the previous leader “HAIKYU!! “The Dumpster Battle” away.
