122 million! Now Switch passes Playstation 4 and Game Boy

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe passes 50 million.

The Nintendo Switch turns six years old in less than a month, and continues its legendary sales journey. 122.55 million is the new one official figure, making the console one of the best sellers of all time. It leapfrogs the Playstation 4 (117 million) and the Game Boy (118 million, GBC included), and takes third place on the list of best-selling consoles. A staggering feat.

However, if the hybrid console is to climb further, something completely extra is required. Nintendo DS (154 million) and Playstation 2 (at least 155 million) sit safely in the first two places. Compared to the previous year, Switch sold 21 percent worse. It may be difficult to reach DS and PS2.

On the other hand, the Switch continues to sell in large numbers. At the same time last year, it climbed to 103.54 million, pushing the Wii down a notch. In one year, another 19 million consoles have been sold.

52 million Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

They have shipped 994 million Switch games, and they are thus approaching one billion. That’s far more than for any previous Nintendo console. So yes: even the games continue to sell. Nintendo takes the opportunity to serve us the top ten of the console’s best-selling games. Most striking is perhaps that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reaches a dream limit. 3.6 million more games were sold last year and the remake of the Wii U game has now sold 52 million copies.

A strong start also made (rather maligned) Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. 20.61 million sold from November 18 to December 31 has marched quickly. Despite the boastful figures, however, sales of the Switch are slowing down. Nintendo mainly explains it with the lack of semiconductors. This dampens expectations for sales until March – even if it is from a high level.
