12 Things You Need to Know about Helldivers 2

In Helldivers 2, nasty alien bugs attack the central nervous system in good old Starship Troopers style. We offer you 12 tips for the action-packed co-op shooter that the game doesn’t reveal to you at first glance. As long as the servers for the hellish shooting fun are running, PC players and PS5 console players can also compete with each other in crossplay. On the PS5, we recommend a few graphics settings so that you don’t suffer from motion sickness during the hectic shooting. You will also find tips on efficient reloading and important stations on the alien planets.

1. Use weapon properties

In Helldivers 2. If you hold down the square button on the PS5, you can switch back and forth between weapon properties. You can switch the fire mode, activate flashlights or lasers and much more.

2. Efficient reloading

When reloading, you shouldn’t completely empty your magazine. If there is only one cartridge in the barrel, you will reload faster.

3. Change shoulders when changing cover

If you find yourself in a situation where you have to strafe left and right behind cover, press the right stick on the PS5 to change your shoulder and not end up on the table.

4. Grenade launchers and grenades seal nests

More and more bugs pouring out of a nest? Then throw a grenade inside to seal it. For larger nests, fire at them with the grenade launcher to plug the holes.

5. Prevent a bug breach?

The bad bugs communicate with each other! To prevent this, you first locate patrolling enemies. Watch out for small red or green bugs or the smaller version of the beetles with claws. These alert their insect friends and trigger the bug breach. Turn these off to prevent the risk of a breakthrough.

6. Samples for upgrades will be shared

With the so-called samples you get upgrades and more. It is also worth collecting the samples from your teammates who have been killed. The samples are then shared in the lobby. So if an impetuous teammate storms into a bug nest to get a valuable sample and fails, you can still get the sample back to share it later.

7. Weapons and armor with stats and buffs

In the Armory you look at the stats and passive abilities of armor and weapons. Some of these offer tactical bonuses. Sometimes weapons and armor match. Be sure to take a look here to make your build more tactical. But you also have to be careful with weapons: armored opponents notice damage that destroys their tank and charge you.

8. Use fat artillery stations correctly

The huge, fixed fire stations offer you enormous firepower! Load appropriate ammunition (mini-nuke, napalm, EMP and more) into the cannon. You also load 3 different giant cartridges and fire different amounts of damage one after the other.

9. Ping things, inform teammates

You aim at things and tap R1 (PS5) to mark accordingly. The system in Helldivers 2 ranks your target and marks things for your teammates. No matter whether you play alone in a random squad or communicate with your friends. It’s been helping the team since EA’s Battlefield Bad Company 2 to mark things for everyone!

10. Reveal more map points through radar stations

You should definitely solve the radar stations in Helldivers 2. Important points of interest are unlocked on the map, whether unique drops, bonus weapons, premium currency, medals or even samples. The radar station provides you with an important detail: If you reach places with a greenish fog, you are looking for a kind of giant mushroom that is the fog. Destroy this mushroom and the map area will be revealed.

11. PS5 graphics optimizations

Be sure to turn off the motion blur in the graphics settings. You should also save the depth of field. Set sharpness to maximum and turn on anti-aliasing to get a clear and sharp look.

Our tip: Also shrinks the HUD for a better overview. We had a useful experience with level 1, including a good overview.

12. Hellpods or SOS pods kill enemies

Are you out of stratagems and facing a gigantic opponent? Then an SOS pod calls at the right moment and kills the beast. This also works with the Hellpod after you die. Be sure to try this out in hectic boss fights.
