1 year with the Switch 2: Now I’m selling the Nintendo console

Unfortunately, my good old Nintendo Switch 2 is now obsolete.

A comment from Martin Hartmann

It’s an exciting week for Nintendo fans. Two direct presentations promise new games for the hybrid console. Nevertheless, I have now decided to sell my Switch 2. Why? I need the money to buy a new Switch 2!

Switch 2 in red and blue? I choose green and gold!

It actually has nothing to do with the fact that I found the last Direct rather disappointing. Kirby and the World Beyond As a big announcement, it left me cold at the end. Sorry, Nintendo, but the pink ball just hasn’t been able to blow me away so far.

But I was even more excited about the new Switch 2 console that was presented at Zelda Direct. The green, gold and black console just looks so good. Nintendo is also venturing into truly experimental designs for the Joy-Cons for the first time, which have so far been very simple.

The new Switch 2 will be released on October 29, 2026. It can currently also be pre-ordered from MediaMarkt and Amazon, although it is not clear how long it will be available.

What do I play on the new Switch 2?

Since I can’t afford to own two consoles of the same generation, the old Switch 2 has to go now. But first I’ll wait to see whether my pre-order goes through without any problems.

I will then play the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on my new Switch 2. Nintendo recently showed gameplay about this. Metroid Ravenous will come at the beginning of 2027. The highlight of the last Nintendo Direct is scheduled to appear on January 2nd, 2027. The trailer already looks very exciting.

But a few big Switch 2 games are still missing. To date, Nintendo has not revealed anything about a new 3D Mario game. Other big brands like Smash Bros. and Animal Crossing are also waiting for a sequel.
